A Boaters Cruising Guide to Marathon and the Florida Keys ...
If you're into boating and just want "Local Info" without glamourous advertising and promotion of expensive marinas and restaurants, then start here. Lisa & I have been based out of Marathon in the center of the Keys for more than 27 years (2022). I'm a past Commander of our local US Power Squadron, past Port and Fleet Captain, and Board of Governors of the Marathon Yacht Club, and an avid boater. We're liveaboards that have routinely cruised the Great Lakes to the Florida Keys on the Great Loop routes, plus the Bahamas and Cuba over the years.

" ... what makes this site a jewel is the Cruising section. You can learn about Boot Key Harbor, local fishing, diving, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Cruising the Keys. . . . . A must-see for the Florida Cruiser!"                               - Louise Coulson,  Living Aboard Magazine, Jan/Feb 2000

BOOT KEY HARBOR CHRISTMAS
BOAT PARADE
Saturday Dec 9th, 2023

Capt Sam Nelson and I started the Boot Key Harbor Boat Parade in 1996 with the Marathon Sail and Power Squadron as itís annual sponsor. This is held the second Saturday of December each year. The Power Squadron is no longer sponsoring this annual parade but want to keep it going for the community. - Capn Gregory Absten

IIene Clark has stepped
up to organize and put this community parade together for Saturday December 9th, keeping the tradition of the 2nd Saturday of December. Please would anyone interested in participating please contact her via Facebook, email iclark317@comcast.net HYPERLINK "mailto:iclark317@comcast.net"or phone 561 542-2727. She will put the list of whom is interested in participating together and plan a meeting for the Tuesday before for all participating. This will be a fun community parade, with no judges, no prizes (unless someone else wants to organize donations or such). We need to keep the tradition going. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Please share this with any and all pages, posts, family, friends, etc.. Irene has participated in the parade for the last five years and just wants to keep the tradition started by the Marathon Sail and Power Squadron alive.

ALSO - Don't forget the Key Colony Boat Parade the next day on SUNDAY DEC 10.
