Restaurants & Bars (on the water in the harbor)

  • Cabot's restaurant & bar overlooking the water at west entrance to harbor (new Jan 03), end of 11th St by Marathon Marina. 725 11th St. (Not Recommended by Capn Greg) This was the old Shuckers restaurant. Features seafood & prime beef. Lunch & Dinner. 11:30am - 10pm Mon-Thurs, open late on Fri-Sat, and til 9pm on Sunday. Happy hour 2-5pm daily. Docking available for restaurant. Our initial personal experience here is not good. The newly decorated restaurant is very attractive and upscale. It is a VERY expensive sunset view. Prices are the highest I've seen in Marathon. Draft beers are $3.50 (Feb 2003). Prime Rib dinners are $30. The rest of the menu is priced similarly. Our appetizers were marginal. Even though happy hour is promoted at 2 for 1, our bill came with the full price. When asked about happy hour it was provided only with some hesitation, and then only a part of the credit was put back on the bill. This is now a consummate tourist spot and if you don't mind paying the big bucks for a view, then go ahead. I would not.
