This is easy to get to by water. Anchor out and dinghy in, or call ahead for a Marina slip. It's a Hot Spot in Islamorada.

You'll be greeted by this sign when coming from Highway US1 in the Keys at Mile Marker 82.

The name of the Lorelei was selected because the old legends were reminiscent of early days in the Keys, when wreckers lit fires on the beaches to lure unsuspecting ships onto offshore reefs in order to pillage them.

The Lorelei Legend had its origin in Homer's Odyssey, where elusive fishtailed sea nymphs lured mariners to destruction on the rocks surrounding their island by singing haunting and irresistible songs. Centuries later, an enchanting mermaid known as the Lorelei wreaked the same havoc on Germany's Rhine River

At one time the tracks of Flagler's ill-fated railroad ran right past the present Lorelei site, and boats had their cargoes unloaded onto freight cars for shipment north and south. Today, some railroad ties and track are still visible in the water off the docking area.

Hurricane Donna blew the original structure out to sea in September of 1960, but after the storm it was towed back by a workboat and set up again in its original location. Today, that structure is the Cabana Bar.

Reveler's prepare for Sunset!

Mounted fish representative of Keys species fill the showcase along the boardwalk - along with pictures of trophy catches - look for President Bush! Twelve back country guides offer the best of sport fishing.

The present Lorelei remains a beautiful spot in the Keys tradition. The remodeled restaurant provides diners with a lovely indoor or outdoor spot to enjoy the Keys scenery.

The outdoor Cabana Bar, with it's nightly sunset celebration and live music provide a perfect ending to a glorious day in Islamorada.
