Special Dive Flag Requirements for Florida - April 2002: Size displayed on vessels is 20"x24" and requires a stiffener to keep the flag unfurled. Dive flags carried on floats may still be 12"x12". The flag displayed on vessels must be displayed so that visibility to it is not obstructed. Vessel operators must make reasonable effort to maintain a 100' distance from any divers-down flag while on a river, inlet, or navigation channel; divers must make a reasonable effort to stay within 100' of their flag on rivers, inlets or navigation channels. Divers must make a reasonable effort to stay within 300' of the flag on all waters other than above (open waters); and vessel operators must make a reasonable effort to maintain a distance of 300' from vessels displaying the flag on these waters. Vessels may approach with 100' or 300' of the divers-down flag at idle speed. "Buzzing" a dive flag is reckless operation of a vessel, a first degree misdemeanor with a fine up to $1000 and/or 6 months in jail. You must display a dive flag when towing a diver behind the boat. (Also note - the dive flag should be removed when the boat is underway and no divers/snorkelers are in the water)

Burdine's Waterfront Marina,    Gary Simmons, Mgr 305-743-5317  Not a Scuba Shop, but do have tank rentals & air fills on their fuel dock.
