The TENN-TOM WATERWAY
Nov 1-2, 2001
This is the LARGEST (most expensive) government project ever
undertaken in the U.S. to make a navigable inland waterway all the way out to
the Gulf of Mexico at Mobile Alabama.

This portion of the Tenn-Tom waterway -
from Bay Springs lake down into Mississippi, is all man made! Bay Springs Lake
lock is the start of our downward trek to the sea again. |

Our friends onboard WindigoIII depart out of Dresden
Locks. |

This small cove at Blue Bluff recreation area, off the river, provides a
good anchorage. The small dock didn't show up on any of our charts but was
welcomed by Creative Touch. No services - but free and a place to get off
and run the dogs.

A montage of
the Fulton-Aberdeen lock system through the waterway. |

At left, I didn't notice this building as
we went by, but my friend Kevin on WindigoIII did. He also talked to locals
about it. It's a NASA operated facility that purportedly does "nothing"
there. A longtime school friend of one of the lockmasters works at this
facility and, when asked what they do there, responds that the facility is
not operational and they don't do anything each day they report for work!

Lots of wildlife along the rivers - like this Bald Eagle!
