Boot Key Harbor Marinas

General Harbor Information: Anchor lights are required here. It's in international waters and can't be made a special anchorage area to eliminate this requirement. . Pumpouts are available at Burdine's on the West side. The City marina in midharbor has one,  and there is also a "honey-barge" out of the City Marina. You can call them to see if the barge is available for pumpout at anchor. The BKH bridge monitors Channel 09. (Click Here for a bridge picture) Bridge hours are 6am to 10pm on demand, and you can call by phone after hours. The Sister Creek entrance to the harbor has no bridge or overhead line restrictions but has only about 4+ feet at low water and more or less 6' at high. You can clear approximately 24-25 ft with the Harbor Bridge closed - there is now a gauge at the base of the bridge. You clear 65' on the overhead lines when the gauge shows 25'. If you anchor out and don't have a dinghy, call Sandy's Water Taxi service by VHF Ch16. He can ferry you back and forth to restaurants / bars, give a guided harbor tour, or take you out to the beach. The two popular bar/restaurant/marina sites are Burdines on the West , and Dockside on the East end.

Please be advised that the City of Marathon and Monroe County have proposals to make the Harbor a managed one, with anchoring regulations. Stay posted. You can learn more in the Harbor Plans section of this site.
